Albuquerque, New Mexico is the true gem of the Southwest. Until
recently, our mild but seasonally changing climate has been one of the
best kept secrets in the nation. Our scenery from purple mountain's
majesty to the amazing sunsets against the desert floor are unmatched
any where in the world. It is said that so many artists make their home
in New Mexico because the light playing through the altitude here is
very special and lends to the unique beauty of the scenes and
coloration they love to capture.
So many outdoor sports can be
played year around in Albuquerque with nearby skiing, golfing, fishing,
boating, sailing, hiking, and not forgetting, biking trails both
mountain and touring allowing us to rank very high nationally in
numbers and accessibility of trails. All this and an average of 300
days a year of sunshine.
Albuquerque with its warm climate and
a variety of world class resorts in the area continues to grow in
popularity and charm. Have you ever dreamed of seeing hundreds of hot
air balloons in the sky? From October 6 through 15, the Balloon Fiesta,
held annually, is the largest event of its kind in the world. Each year
we welcome around 750 balloons. Balloon rides are available for
travelers that not only want to watch but participate. Albuquerque also
has many year round activities, making it a blossoming tourist
destination. Visitors can explore the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and
Old Town. The Cultural Center provides an introduction to New Mexico's
Native American heritage while Old Town is the core of the old Spanish
colonial settlement. Old Town features the historic San Felipe de Neri
Church along with many craftsman, artists and restaurants with
authentic New Mexican cuisine.
